Manchester United came into the 2014-15 Barclays Premier League season without a win in their first 3 games. With a surprising 1-2 loss at home against Swansea City in the opening match and draws against Sunderland and Burnley which were also surprising, Manchester United decided not to show any more attitude and get some games on their winning side. Louis van Gaal finally gave talented centre back Marcos Rojo a contract while new signings Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao were brought to this match to build the momentum. Manchester United were not a very fun team to watch and Angel Di Maria did not do much in the 0-0 draw to Burnley either.
The Rangers were looking for a draw after beating Sunderland the previous week from a wonderful strike by Charlie Austin. However, they knew that facing the new Manchester United squad would be difficult as they've added several new attackers to help their force of football.
Manchester United began the game shakily, giving away free kicks from Marcos Rojo and Tyler Blackett that QPR failed to capitalize. In over 20 minutes, Rafael won a free kick against Jack Hill. The left footed Angel Di Maria took the free kick. Rob Green hesitated and guessed the wrong way, watching the free kick curve bounce around the crease before going in for a 1-0 Manchester United lead.
Moments later, Ander Herrera took a beautiful pass from Angel Di Maria, one-timing a right footed blast past Rob Green, who had absolutely no chance in stopping such an opportunity. It was 2-0 for Manchester United. It seemed that things were finally opening up for the former English giants.
Captain Wayne Rooney sent home an excellent cross by Ander Herrera nearing half time on the left wing to give Manchester United a 3-0 lead to close the first half. The home side were feeling pretty good about themselves, scoring just their 4th goal in 4 games to start the year.
In 59 minutes, attacking midfielder Juan Mata picked up a cross by Rooney from the left wing and volleyed his left footed strike past Rob Green for a speechless 4-0 lead. The match ended with Radamel Falcao playing for just over 20 minutes, but it all ended well as Manchester United began winning games just as they were expected to do.
